How to Make a Bangle Bracelet Using Polyclay

Chelsea Hoffman
Polyclay, also sold as polymer clay, is a low-firing clay for making a myriad of creations such as jewelry, figurines and works of art. Aside from making beads, pendants and assorted charms with polyclay, you can use it to make your own homemade bangle bracelet designs. Knowing how to make a bangle bracelet out of polyclay gives you the opportunity to take dominion over your fashion accessories.

Things You Need
1/2 lb. polyclay
Pasta roller
Ruler
Clay toolkit
Border stamp kit
Ceramic baking stone
Dremel
Craft jewelry glaze

Step 1
Roll the wad of polyclay through the pasta roller, making it no more than 1/8 inch thick. This will flatten it considerably, therefore widening it to a large sheet of pliable clay. Lay the sheet out in front of you.

Step 2
Lay the roller across the clay sheet horizontally, Make a single slice across the clay using a clay knife from the toolkit. Move the ruler down 3 inches and repeat. This creates a strip of clay measuring roughly 4 to 5 inches wide. Cut off the ends so that the clay strip is only approximately 8 inches long. If you have a smaller wrist, make it smaller.

Step 3
Press the strip of wide clay against the surface of a textured border stamp. These rubbery stamps can be found in craft stores or online and measure as long as 24 inches. Obtain one that measures at least 8 inches for this use. Pull the clay from the stamp carefully, revealing the 3-D design.

Step 4
Wrap the textured clay around your wrist in a cuffed shape. Slide your hand out of it and lay it on its side in the center of the ceramic baking stone. A pizza stone that is no longer in use is adequate as well. Fire the bangle in your oven at 250 degrees for 45 minutes. Turn off the oven and allow the bangle to cool to room temperature within the oven.

Step 5
Sand the edges of the bangle to give them a rounded appearance.

Step 6
Spray a liberal amount of craft glaze over the entire surface of the homemade bangle, inside and out. Let it air dry for 40 minutes before wearing.
