Exfoliate around once a week.
Nothing ground breaking. You have probably tried this already, however you must be VERY careful on this step. Whether you pick a brush, sponge, scrub, or washcloth, to do this you must be very gentle. Your face is not a floor, so don't scrub it. This can cause roseacea and spread your acne. Also, if you use a scrub make sure the beads are synthetic. Natural beads have rough edges that can tear the skin.
Cleanse your face twice a day.
It is important to wash you face in the morning and at night. If you let oil and dirt sit on your face all day it combines with dead skin cells, creating a gooey substance which then clogs pores and causes acne. You will want to try a cleanser with AHA and BHA, or more commonly referred to as salicylic acid. I am convinced that Peter Thomas Roth Beta Hydroxy Acid 2% Acne Wash saved my skin. NEVER go to bed with makeup on.
Use an acne gel or cream.
First, you will want an over the counter 10% Benzyl Peroxide cream for stubborn zits but you will also want a daily salicylic acid gel. Try Peter Thomas Roth AHA/BHA Acne Clearing Gel.
Always moisturize your face.
Even if you have oily skin it is very important you moisturize. Without it your skin will produce more oil and you can get premature wrinkles. Go for an oil free face moisturizer.
Always use sunscreen.
UV rays will break down Vitamin A in the skin. You want that Vitamin A because it prevents acne.
Nourish your body.
Drink lots of water and try to eat healthy and exercise. Not everyone can do this all the time so I take Dr Perricones Fish Oil pills and Murads Pure Skin Supplements. Fish oil is amazing for your body and health. It promotes better heart health, better memory, and beautiful hair, skin, and nails.
