The blogosphere has exploded in the last few years, especially the political blogosphere. We see blogs on the left, blogs on the right, even some blogs in the middle. One of the advantages of these blogs is that oftentimes readers can make their own comments on the blog, adding to the discussion.
But where is the fun in that? What if you want to get banned from a liberal blog? It is not like they really discuss anything of importance, or even anything that is being talked about on the main blog. They are really just social chat boards where online loonies still living in their parents' basements can go and pretend that they have friends.
Banned From Liberal Blogs
You might be wondering to yourself: how does this guy know how to get banned from a liberal blog? Can you even get banned from a liberal blog? Wouldn't that, like, go completely against what liberal ideals are about? Go against freedom of speech, the free exchange of ideas across a worldwide network, etc., etc., etc.?
One might think that, but one would be wrong. I have been banned from almost every liberal blog I have ever posted on. Usually within a couple of days, at times within a matter of a couple of hours. These would include: Eschaton (better known as Atrios after the man who started the blog), Pandagon, Crooks and Liars, the Left Coaster, Jesus' General and Fire Dog Lake. In fact at Pandagon they hated me so much they wanted to start a petition to get me banned from posting on any blog ever again for the future of eternity.
I wish I was making this stuff up.
How to Get Banned From Liberal Blogs
So what is the secret to getting banned from a liberal blog? Here are some tips on what you can do to get banned from any liberal blog you happen to run across.
-
Stay on
topic. The comment threads on these blogs almost never have
anything to do with the actual topic of the post on the main blog.
The commenters don't really care about what is going on with the
blog, they just want to chat. Staying on topic makes them angry.
And you don't want to see a liberal blogger when he is angry.
-
Disagree with
them. This is really the major thing that will get you banned
faster than anything. They hate people that disagree with them.
Especially when such disagreements are well thought out and
reasoned. That just sends them over the edge.
-
Agree with
them. What gets liberal bloggers even madder is when you agree with
them on something after you have disagreed with them on something
else. Because these are the ultimate partisans, they believe that
if you disagree with them on one thing you will therefore disagree
with them on everything else. If you don't adhere to their
preconceived notions their heads will explode and they will hate you
forever.
-
Be more
popular than them. If you are a likable poster, the kind of person
that people like to talk to, that makes the liberals really mad too.
Liberals really hate it when you take control of a conversation and
get people talking about real issues rather than just posting fluff.
They don't like to think that you are more popular than they are.
It destroys their little notions of their own self-importance and
will get you banned.
-
Be funnier
than they are. This works particularly well on the humorous blogs,
such as Jesus' General. If a blogger thinks they are the funniest
thing in pants, then you come on and are funnier than they are,
well, they ban you. Its as simple as that.
These are just a few things you can do to get banned from a liberal blog. It can be a fun way to spend some free time while you are working and bored and need something to distract your mind from the tedious monotony of staring at a computer screen for eight hours a day. But you will find that the thrill from getting banned from liberal blogs soon fades away. Plus it doesn't take too long until you are banned from just about every liberal blog out there, and that's all she wrote.

Post a CommentWritten a long time ago but very true. Craig's List political forums are a great example of this.
LOL, you're not funny or smart. Where did you hear that?
Both conservative and liberal blogs should work to deepen, mature, and inform the debate, not weaken it.
That's funny. You give yourself way too much credit. Truth is, you get banned from liberal blogs not because of your imbecilic comments, but because of your microscopic penis.
You are all faggots! Heather James suck my cock!
Ass!
Cock!
I like to poop on cats!
Replace liberal with conservative and the article is exactly the same. I'm not so sure you've hit upon a brilliant epiphany here. People dislike ideological opponents, and they also dislike being outshone. Better to leave political humor to the people too exasperated to care which team their guy is on. The left/right thing just isn't funny.
Would you ban me from your blog for writing this?
