How to Get Barack Obama Inauguration Ceremony and Parade Tickets

If you are hoping to attend the Presidential Inauguration Ceremony of Barack Obama on January 20th in Washington, D.C. you must request tickets from your US Senator or your representative in Congress. Tickets are free but they are extremely limited. Millions of people are hoping to get tickets to this historic event. Everyone attending including Children will need a ticket. Some states are doing a lottery system to choose who gets to attend. Tickets will not be released until the week prior according to the official United States inaugural website.

If you search online you may find websites selling the tickets for the Presidential Inauguration Ceremony of Barack Obama on January 20th but until a week prior it is impossible for anyone to have the tickets. Avoid getting ripped off by trying to purchase tickets online. Many people who receive the free tickets to the Inauguration will in fact turn around and sell them on eBay and Craigslist. It's is not illegal for someone to sell a free ticket but may be unethical.

Gates will open for the Inauguration Ceremony of Barack Obama starting at 9am. There will be many security checks so be sure to arrive extra early. No strollers will be permitted.

Barack Obama's Inauguration Parade

If you want to attend the Inauguration parade it is free to line up on Pennsylvania Avenue. Due to the extreme amount of people attending no lawn chairs or strollers are permitted for anyone along the parade route. There will also be tickets sold for bleacher seats through Obama's Presidential Inaugural Committee website.

On Sunday, January 18th Barack Obama will attend a welcome event on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. This event is open to the public and free to attend. No time has been announced yet.

If you are traveling to Washington D.C. to attend the inauguration and need a hotel book as soon as possible. Most hotels require a 2-5 day stay for the Inaugration.

If you need to find the cheapest hotel possible consider staying outside of the Washington D.C. area. You can search the prices of surrounding areas including Arlington, Bethesda, Fairfax and College Park.

The three closest airport to the D.C. area are Ronald Reagan, Dulles, and Baltimore.
