Word Count in Microsoft Word

Did you know that you can find out how many words you have typed in your document? This is called a word count. Not only can you find out how many words you have typed, but you can also find out how many characters and pages. Go to the top of your window and click Tools > Word Count. That will bring up a little box that will tell you how many words you have typed and more. Click the Close button when you are done.

Make your Text Bold, Italic, and Underlined

This is very simple to do. Highlight the text that you want to change. There will be three buttons at the top of your Microsoft Word program, B, I, and U. Click the "B" to make your text bold. Click the "I" to make your text italic, and click the "U" to underline the text.

Printing your Document

There are a few ways to print a document. 1.) Click File > Print at the top of your window. Click OK on the dialog box that pops up. 2.) Press CTRL + P on your keyboard to print your document. Click OK on the dialog box that pops up. 3.) Click the printer icon at the top of your window. Click OK on the dialog box that pops up.

Inserting the Date into your Document

You can insert the date into your document quickly and easily by clicking Insert > Date and Time. A box will pop up and you will choose the format that you want to use. Then click the OK button.

Inserting a Table into your Document

Tables are used for all kinds of things. To insert a table into your document click Table > Insert > Table. Enter the number of columns and rows that you want. Then click the OK button.

Inserting a Horizontal Line

Click Format > Borders and Shading at the top of your window. When the dialog box pops up, click the Horizontal Line button at the bottom. Another dialog box will pop up. Scroll through the lines and click on the one that you want to use. Then click the OK button. You can also use lines that you find on the internet. Simply save the lines to your computer. Then click the Import button on the box with the lines. Another box will pop up. Locate the line that you saved on your computer and click the Import button. Then find that line in the box, click on it, and click the OK button.

That is all for this tutorial. By now you should be close to being a pro in Microsoft Word. I hope these guides have helped you with Microsoft Word. If you have any problems, please feel free to contact me using the contact button at the top of this page.
