When is the right time to bathe- Choosing the proper time to bathe the kitten or kittens is important. Look for signs of fleas, dirt, potty stuck to the bottom, etc. Now, is the right time. Make sure you choose a warm area. That will not put the kitten in shock. Pick a time when you are not in a hurry and preferably in the late morning or early afternoon. That way the kittens will have time to dry before bed and after the morning chill has gone.
What products you need- Having all the properly needed products on hand, makes it an easier task and the kitten wont be cold or left unattended. What you will need: mild soap(like Dawn dish liquid or kitten soap from your local pet store), two medium sized bowls(one fore washing and one for rinsing), two towels(one is for extra drying), nail clippers( if there over 4weeks), a soft kitten brush, and a warm, dry bed for after the bath.
How to bathe kittens- Fill the bowls with warm water. Add the soap, about one squirt, to one of the bowls. Then, clip the nails(if the kittens are old enough). Brush the kitten gently. To loosen any hair, dirt, etc. Now, put it into the warm water with soap, slowly. Put the water all over to rinse it off and gently scrub all debris off. Add some soap to your hands if needed to get more off. Now, put it in the other bowl and rinse thoroughly. Dry well! Then place in the warm bed. Repeat with each kitten and change towels and water in between each bath.
How to keep track of bathing- Have a calendar just for the kittens, get a kitten one so as not to forget. Mark each day you bathe each kitten. Two to three times a week can be necessary. The calendar is also good for when it comes time for DE-worming, shots, age changes, etc. Keeping track of these dates are very important for the kittens health.
So now as the main care taker, it is important to bathe the kittens. Use these helpful tips to bathe your kittens.
