Saltwater Spray
You can purchase saltwater spray products at the store, but you can easily make your own using ingredients most likely already in the kitchen. In a spray bottle, mix about six tablespoons of coarse salt with a cup of water. Shake up the bottle to dissolve the salt granules.
Wet your hair in the sink or shower, just enough to make it damp. Use a towel to soak up any excess water if you think you put too much. Next, spray your damp hair with the saltwater spray. Make sure you get the spray from the roots to the tip of your hair and be careful not to spray your eyes!
Next, braid your hair in sections and allow it to dry. If you're in a hurry, blow-dry using a cool setting to speed up drying time; otherwise, allow it to air dry over a couple of hours.
Once your hair is dry, remove the braids and tousle the hair with your hands to loosen up the braids.
After you've used saltwater on your hair, you should spend the next day using a deep moisturizing product to restore moisture into dry strands.
Curling Iron
If you want to get the same look without spraying your hair with saltwater, you can easily achieve it using a curling iron and hair serum. This method works best if you already have dry hair, since saltwater may increase dryness.
Dampen the hair and apply a root lifter product to create volume in your style. Once the root lifter is applied, dry it thoroughly with the blow-dryer. To protect it from heat damage, you may want to add a heat protectant product to your hair before you dry it.
Using the curling iron, wrap 1-inch sections of hair around the barrel, alternating directions you wrap the hair around the curling iron to keep it looking natural and 'beachy'. Pin the curls to your head using bobby pins to keep the curl's shape as you work around the rest of your hair. Once you're completely done, remove all of the bobby pins from the hair and run your fingers through the curls to break them up.
Apply a small amount of serum to your hands and rub together to warm it up. Run your hands through your hair to get the serum everywhere and increase shine in your style.
You can easily create a beachy-style for your hair, whether you embrace your natural waves or create them with a few products. After swimming around in the pool, you can also apply the saltwater spray to your hair and allow to air-dry for a sexy, tousled look.
