How to Make a Beaded Daisy Necklace Chain

A Fun Granny Craft to Do with Your Grandchild

Betty Malone
When I was a little girl, I loved to sit in the summer grass and make clover and daisy chains. We didn't use real daisies but those little white and yellow flowers on a common weed that grew in southern Indiana. While those were fun, a great granny craft to make with your granddaughter is a beaded daisy chain necklace that will last forever, instead of just a day or two.

Supplies

Yellow and white and even green seed beads

Although you could use whatever color you wanted for your floral bead chain!

A saucer or shallow dish to hold the beads

A beading needle (you can buy these at all hobby and craft stores)

Beading thread

Scissors

Procedure

First place the beads in a dish or one dish for each color.

Second, thread the beading needle with about 3 ft. of beading thread for a necklace or 1 ½ ft for a bracelet. Double the thread and tie a knot at the end.

Third, thread on one green bead to the knot at the end of the thread. Pass the needle through the bead a second time to tie another knot and secure the bead.

Next thread on nine more green beads and pull them up to the knotted end.

Next, thread on eight white beads. Holding the beads between your finger and thumb, pass the needle through the white beads again, pulling gently to form a loop.

Next, thread on one yellow bead and wedge it in the middle of the loop. Pass the needle through the fourth white bead and, holding the yellow bead in place, carefully pull the thread tight.

Next thread on ten green beads.

Keep repeating the pattern until the bracelet or necklace is the length you want it to be.

To complete the chain, hold the beads until they form a closed circle. Pass the needle through the beginning of the necklace and work back through the pattern for abut 4 inches. Cut the thread close to the beads after it is secure and knotted.

There, a daisy chain that will make your granddaughter the prettiest little daisy in your yard!
