Don't Let This Financial Meltdown Take a Toll on Your Health and Your Life

Feeling hopeful while going through a worldwide financial meltdown can be very difficult, mostly when you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel. Don't dwell on the negative aspects of this financial debacle and try these tips to lift up your mood.

To make sure that you are on the right path to lift your spirit, you will want to get a gratitude journal, a volunteer job if the time allows it (very rewarding), set some fun low-cost home improvements and a counselor to help you with a savings plan.

Keep in mind that everything in life works with the law of gravity, right now we are on our way back up on the rollercoaster and it is slow, but just like a rollercoaster, once you get to the top the exciting part of the ride begins. The same applies to this financial meltdown which will soon be over, if history is any indicator.

By the way, the average time frame for the last 10 recessions we've been through since World War II has been an average of 10.4 months.

Be thankful and look around you, I assure that you will see other people going through tougher times. Count the blessings that come your way. Studies have concluded that people who have and use a gratitude journal to keep a diary of what they feel thankful for live happier lives than people who don't.

Do some volunteer work in your area. The quickest way to feel better about your personal situation is to help your community or someone else. I'm not just saying this by the way, it's proven in studies. Plus, if you are unemployed, volunteering may be the way to land a paying job.

If you've been mad at yourself because you lost money in the stock market or if you bought a house you realized you can't afford, take comfort in knowing that you're not the only one in this situation, thousands of people around the nation and the world are going through the exact same thing. You are not alone.

If you're one of the lucky few that has been able to hang on to your home, but you are still depressed over how much your house has been devalued, go online and learn through free videos or articles how you can improve your home with some do-it-yourself projects. This will increase the value and you'll be working towards something that is yours.

Some of the best remodeling do-it-yourself projects that add real value to a house include a kitchen upgrades, new sidings, bathroom remodeling, or even adding a bathroom.

Use the internet as a resource to find inexpensive ways to substitute the treats you and your family have had to give up. Don't make the mistake that many make of becoming less social just because there's less money.

If the core of your depression stems from financial stress, make a game-plan with the commitment to get out of debt and then make another game-plan start a savings plan, even taking just $10-$20 out of your weekly paycheck adds up at the end. I guarantee that you will feel better day-to-day knowing that you're building a nest egg.

If you're depression is serious to the point that you're having trouble eating, sleeping or concentrating visit a health-care provider and ask about counseling. But I believe that if we are determined and make up our minds we can rise above the occasion.
