How to Beat Your Friends in More in Words with Friends for the iPad, iPod Touch, and iPhone

Quick Tips to Make You Better at Playing Words with Friends on the iPad

Words with Friends is one of the most popular games on iOS devices, including the iPad, iPod Touch, and iPhone, but although lots of people are busy playing this game, not to many people know the killer tricks to easily defeat their foes. Following are several tips that'll have you winning more games of Words with Friends.

Take Your Time

One of the most important pieces of advice to follow when playing Words with Friends is to not rush during your turn. Sure, no one likes playing a match with someone that makes a single move every 3 hours or so [or even every 15 minutes for that matter], but you definitely don't want to be the type of player that rushes through the game without considering your absolute best moves - and the consequences of those moves. When playing Words with Friends it's easy to assume that your buddy is waiting on pens and needles for your next move, but in reality, it just isn't that serious, and more errors are made in haste than any other reason in Words with Friends. Taking a few minutes to consider your options won't bother the average player and by doing so you're are guaranteed to make your next move your best move.

Play Offense and Defense

Another big mistake that's often made during a game of Words with Friends is jumping at the first opportunity that's spotted - that's playing checkers and you want to play this game like a game of chess. You want to make your next move your best move and that simply can't happen if you make plays without considering the pros and cons. When playing Words with Friends you want to steer clear of the double and triple word tiles unless you can take advantage of them, you don't want to set your partner up for a big bonus, and sometimes you'll be forced to settle for a paltry score to stop an opponent from scoring big. Don't get me wrong, you most certainly want to score big, but you don't want to gain 60 points only to set your opponent up for 65 points.

It's Not Always the Big Words that Bring In the Big Points

Banking a very large word and using all 7 of your tiles is impressive feat, but big words don't always translate to big points. While beating the crap out of my friends in Words with Friends, I've found that I rake in the most points when I pay attention to word placement and bonus tiles, merge multiple words, and when I've set up a perfect play - after all, you'll only bank 9 points for spelling LITERATE, but you can score as many and 31 points for spelling QI with the Q on a triple letter or triple score tile.

Practice Makes Perfect

Just like with any other game, getting the hang of Words with Friends will take both time and effort and the longer you play, the more experience you'll gain. Be sure to remain a student of the game, pay attention to obscure words, remember key moves, and try not to make the same mistakes. Words with Friends is more than just a game and to master it, you'll gain a better vocabulary in the process.
