How I Beat the Rain and Annoyed a Neighbour

Edna Horton

How I Beat the rain, and annoyed a neighbor.

The sky was cloudy,

The air was cool,

And I could smell the rain,

Though I could not feel it

Or see it yet

I knew it was ready to pour.

Instead of going inside I stayed out

And as the rain came pouring down

For some reason

I began to shout,

Turning my face directly to the sky

I began to shout, I don't know why.

I shouted "I am getting wet in the rain"

I shouted "I am getting soaked to the bone"

I shouted "I can't go inside I'm having too much fun"

I shouted "rain you haven't beaten me I have one"

Then from somewhere not so far away

To my surprise,

Some one shouted back

"Shut up and go inside"
