How to Be Beautiful

Lisa Belle
We get tons of negative messages about appearance from the media every day.

"Thin is the only beautiful"

"You won't be good looking unless you buy product X"

"You have to be size blank to be acceptable"

Let me let you in on a valuable secret: All these depressing media messages are complete nonsense. The fact is, almost everyone has the potential to be attractive and, yes, beautiful. To be attractive, all you have to do is take care of yourself.

Sounds easy, right? Not really.

Maintaining your mental and physical well-being can be a grueling chore, especially if you have low self esteem to begin with. Here are some steps to becoming the vibrant person you truly are:

-Be Clean
Shower, brush your teeth, wash your hands, and maintain your cleanliness regularly. Being clean tells others you are a competent human being, someone worth approaching.

-Smell Beautiful
Studies have shown that the biggest turn off for people is when others smell bad. Don't just keep yourself from smelling bad; find a signature scent as well. Take this opportunity to be attractive mentally to others- someone who smells bad is unattractive, someone who doesn't smell at all is normal, but someone who smells wonderful glows.

-Get Outside and Exercise
A little exercise goes a long way mentally as well as physically. Exercising will help you to be more fit and healthy, but it will also vastly improve your mood. Be sure to get lots of sun when you are exercising, because time in the sunlight will cheer anyone up. Also, Vitamin D your body naturally makes from sunlight will make you healthier and has been shown to improve your mood.

-Dress Up
Put on some makeup, go buy some new clothes, and go out just for fun. Expressive people are extremely attractive, and one of the easiest ways to express yourself is through your unique fashion style and an aura of confidence (even if you're not all that confident inside)

-Practice, Practice, Practice Being With People
It may seem silly, but practice making friends and meeting new acquaintances. Go to a bar or club and just start talking with people. Others will be drawn to your confident nature and will respond positively. Developing strong relationships with many people will make you more interesting, will make you happier, and will ultimately make you more attractive.

-Tell Yourself "You Are Beautiful", Because its True
Honestly, you are a beautiful person. You are unique, intelligent, and special in every way, for there is no other you. When interacting with others and spending time alone, remember how wonderful you are, that you have things to offer the world that only you can offer. Self-confident people do not only attract other people, they also inspire and help those around them to be more confident and comfortable.

Follow these steps and I guarantee you will feel and look like the beautiful person you are. Remember that media's messages of beauty are false, and that real appeal doesn't come in a beauty product or diet pill- it comes from inside of you.
