How to Make Beauty Cream: A Moisturizing Ointment for Eczema

Sharon
This amazing cream comes from a long line of homemade beauty professionals, commonly referred to as homemakers, housewives and the woman of the house.

My grandmother got this recipe from a friend who had it hand written in an exercise book. My mother gave the recipe to me after her mother had given it to her for treatment of psoriasis. Having been in my family for over 50 years I know this ointment works, I have not seen or heard about anything like it.

It is a very simple recipe that I have used as a intensive moisturizer or night creme. I used it to treat my daughters eczema, My mother has used it to treat psoriasis. I have used it on friends to treat rashes and skin allergies and the outcome is always fantastic.

I have called it "Laws Lodge Miracle creme", from the name of the house that I grew up in, Laws Lodge.

Laws Lodge Miracle creme
1 cup of olive oil
1 tablespoon of honey
2 tablespoons of grated beeswax

Simply mix the olive oil and wax over heat. Being careful not to over heat or boil. Beeswax must melt though.
Mix in the honey.
Pour into suitable, washed and sterilized containers.
cool.

As honey and beeswax does vary, you may need to add a bit more or less beeswax.
If the ointment is too runny, just reheat and melt a bit more beeswax into the ointment.
If the ointment is too hard, you can remelt and add more oil.
The ointment should resemble ointment but I have had it as a creme and even a lotion. The results are still the same.
With all the applications I have done, I believe it is the honeys healing properties and the oil's moisturizing content that works. The wax is just to firm it up to a more usable form. Using this on my daughters eczema, It worked better than steroid cream from the doctor and the more I applied it the better.
If using this as an intensive moisturizer on my face, I smear a little on before bed and wake up with the softest face. Olive oil is close to our natural oils and is very safe to use on our skin.
As with any new thing, and remembering that I am not a doctor, I would recommend a skin test before using, apply a little to a patch of your arm and wait 24 hours to make sure you have no allergic reaction. I have never seen an allergic reaction but I wouldn't recommend it if you are allergic to honey.

I think my grandma would smile from heaven if she saw people using this recipe.
