The first thing you want to do to become a better athlete is identify your problem areas. Try and take a look into what is causing you to lag behind, for example if you are a tennis player, identify what is the problem whether it be your forehand, your backhand or maybe your just not getting to the ball on time, which in that case falls upon your footwork. Once you have an idea of what needs work you can do the time old saying and practice, practice, practice, until that weak point of your game becomes up to the same level as the rest of your game or better.
If you play a sport like soccer, or track, then spending extra time running laps is one of the best things you can do to shape yourself into a better athlete. Becoming a better athlete not only focuses on bettering yourself at the various techniques and patterns that a game has equipped with it, but improving your physical health as well. Running a few extra laps after each practice will show surprising results for any person of any physical shape, as long as they keep up a steady pace during the laps.
Aside from the physical fitness and capability aspects to becoming a better athlete, there is also the mental perspective. becoming a better athlete means bettering yourself both on and off the field. Being in control of any excess emotions that may deter your game is the best thing you can do for yourself to increase your performance. Aside from blocking out the negative aspects and thoughts, you can check into positive thinking, and keep yourself motivated during the times when you want results immediately. Within the mental aspects to becoming a better athlete, there is the determining hard work ethic that controls every aspect to you better yourself. If you don't have the idea in mind that you will work hard through every challenge and have the patience to see the results, then you will never fully better yourself as an athlete.
Overall if you want to increase your performance, and make yourself into the model athlete, just follow these basic tips to help you steadily improve your game.
