Singing from the heart means giving everything you have to the microphone. To become a better singer you have to give your everything.
Show them what you're made of
The greatest singers on this planet from Mariah Carey to Bob Dylan show you everything you need to see to know them in one moment on this confusing Earth. So start singing in seclusion in that sacred training ground where you are battling with whether or not you think you've got what it takes. You take that fight to the streets when your songs are as sharp as surgical knives and you cut through the foggy monotony of peoples' days with soul.
Revolution
You need to flip a switch that takes a normal moment into unforgettable and you need to be able to do it on a moments notice. Your instrument needs to fuse with your ideas as you push with everything you've got until your audience feels like you do, passionate. If you think singing isn't an exercise in high consciousness, think again.
Transform
You need to change yourself from some ordinary anybody into a conduit for soul, This means that boundaries no longer apply to you. Put your heart on your sleeve and let everyone take a poke. They need to see how you operate before they'll be interested in what you do. People are attracted to passion. So get passionate.
Passion
Passion often derives from suffering. Grinding your fingers up and down a guitar doesn't always feel good. Neither does telling people your darkest secrets. Major hits often expose a dark or vulnerable side to a performer. So you've got to meditate on some of those secret spots that you don't let people into. It's probably not going to be that enjoyable. That's the price of passion.
Insecurity
You live in a dangerous world in which you run a one hundred percent chance of dying. You risk your life every time you get into a car. There are numerous deadly diseases at every turn and you are going to tell me that you don't want to "sound dumb"? People are going to judge you regardless of whether or not you do anything.
The shower / The car
You sing in the car. Don't play games! I know you do. You could be 90 with one day left to live driving into the sunset for the last time and if your favorite song came on the radio you'd sing your heart out! Why? Because the car is an awesome place to sing. The only difference between the car and a stage with 1,000,000 adoring fans is your insecurity. Go on rock star, change the world with your voice!
