There are a few things that you should consider before you leap into the catalog modeling world. The first thing is that you should have what it takes to become a model. The first thing is to see if you have or are close to the "ideal" physical characteristics to become a model. You should be at least 5 feet 7 or taller. You should be in a size 4 to 6. Your bust should be 32 to 35 inches. Your waist should be anywhere from 22 inches to 25 inches. Your hips should be 33 to 36 inches. While these measurements are for the "ideal" model, catalog models are given a lot of leeway. You should be able to keep clear skin and have good hair. You should try to have straight teeth. You should have a great mental attitude so that you can be confident and achieve your goals. You should be able to take rejection very lightly.
A lot of the time, catalog companies and their corresponding stores will advertise when they are seeking a model for their catalog. An example of an ad is this: "We are seeking attractive people all ages that would like to model professionally. There is no travel. Earnings, experience and exposure! Begin a career or expand your currant career. We are not an agency, we are a shopping network that guarantee's ongoing assignments. Please email Dawn with name and photo for consideration" Dawn Frey.
There are still many other ways to get involved in the catalog modeling industry besides answering ads. You can choose an agent who will then direct and guide you on the path towards your goal of becoming a catalog model. One of the things you should always remember when choosing an agent is to ensure that the agent is there to help you achieve what you want in life, not what they feel you should achieve.
The first step that you should already have if you are going to a serious catalog model is a portfolio. This is a file of photographs that show the many modeling talents that you are able to give. This is your resume for the model world. Remember to always be professional so that you will be hired back again.
