Step 1:
The first thing that you need to do is to complete a program for certified nurse technicians. For those who have a family and a full time job there are also options for virtual schooling, which you can do from the comfort of your own home during the free time that you have. Community colleges generally offer courses for this type of certification as well. The type of college or schooling that you attend will depend on your location, your schedule, and your personal needs. As long as you end up with the certificate you need you will be fine.
Step 2:
After you have completed your schooling you will need to take and pass the state board of nursing exam. It is the requirement of most states that this exam is passed before someone can begin to work in this field. Each state will have its own requirements so that is something that you are going to want to look into. States have their own board of nursing website and that is something that you will want to check out. The more prepared you are the better.
Step 3:
After you have received your certification and you have passed the exam you will need to update your resume. Make sure that you are putting a lot of time and effort into creating your resume, as this is what will get you in the door for interviews. If you have trouble writing your own resume then you can seek out help from a professional resume writer. For those who do not have a lot of extra money to spend there is always the Internet, which is full of valuable information on how to write your resume in a professional way.
Step 4:
After you find employment as a certified nurse assistant you will want to make sure that you are always seeking out ways to continue your education. There are some states that require all certified nurse assistants to qualify for their license renewal each and every year. The additional education will also help you ensure your employment potential. Even if your state does not require ongoing education, it is something that you should probably think about as it can only help you.
