First of all before you get ready to engage in battle, you need to know how to read formations and know what every player job is. I'm going to start off with offense. I hate to see a player just pick any play and not know what the players are going to do. If this is you, you are playing blind. When you pick an offensive play you need to know what routes the receivers are going to run (including the tight end), what the running backs are doing, and how many blockers will be blocking for you. Some times the running back might block first then run his route. A light color route usually signifies this. Know what are your players are doing so that you can use more strategy options such as hot routes and motioning.
On defense you need to know how to read defense formations whether you're playing offense or defense. Before you pick the play you should know whether your players are playing zone and or man to man. Most of the time a circle means zone and an x means man to man. So you need to study this and know every defensive players job from the line to safety. When you're on offense you should be able to tell whether your opponent is playing zone or man to man by moving one certain player in motion. Being a good defensive player in Madden is the most important thing to becoming at great player. If you don't learn how to play great defense you won't beat elite players.
To become a great player you need to know how to run the ball. If you just started playing Madden start off by learning how to run the ball. Running the ball well let's you eat up the clock and control the game and your opponent emotions. Nobody likes to play a player who just runs the ball. Just like in real life football, if you run the ball well it will help you open up and develop your passing game.
Becoming a good passer takes a lot work. Knowing the receivers routes and how the defense is going to play them helps. You need to know whether or not to tap the button for throwing a bomb or pressing down hard on the button to throw a strike. Knowing how to control the way the ball is thrown is key.
Play the game only on All Madden even if you are playing the computer. The more you get blown out the better you will become if you don't give up. You will never be able to compete with the elites playing on any level lower then All Madden.
Practice. I know it's just a video game but practicing will help you become more familiar with the players. It will also help you choose what auditable plays to set
I gave you a lot of helpful information. So don't give up in trying to beat that player because everybody can be beaten it just takes working hard at it. I hope what I gave you was helpful. If you think you can take me out we can meet online anytime.
