How To: Become a Good Running Back

Ethan Fenchel
1. Stay fit. Running backs are one of the most active players on the entire team. Make sure you drink plenty of water and run and work out 2-4 times a week. Try doing 40 yards dashes, power-cleans and bench. Another great tip is running with your pads on and running a mile, this can help you build endurance and stamina.

2. Work on footwork, try jumping jacks, hurdles, foot fires, and ECT. Make sure you run a lot, this will help you build speed and you can just outrun the competition. Building lower-body strength will help you plow over the defenders and can easily get some good numbers. Try running over many tires that are placed side-by-side together, this can also yield good results.

3. Eat healthy foods, stay away from sugary foods that give you a sugar rush, you will find yourself completely tired when practice or before a game. Try eating fruits more often, they contain natural sugars and can keep you awake and improve performance in game. Another food to consider is meat; they can build protein and build lean muscles. This can be especially good if you aren't that fast, which you can then plow over the defense much more easily. Try to eat eggs also, they also have a very high content of protein and can improve performance remarkably.

4. Try to become successful at spins and stiff arms, this can help you become a harder person to tackle. Once you become difficult to tackle, you will receive a lot more handoffs and get remarkably amount of more playing time.

5. Have fun. Don't think of playing to be to much work, everyone needs to have fun or they will not enjoy the game, so if you do not have fun, talk to your coach and you can figure something out, because when players start having bad attitudes the entire team will not function normally. So make sure you have fun, live it up with friends, get a girl friend, and doing this, and having fun, you will seen your game improve.

Tips:

* Drink lots of milk, it has lots of calcium and can build bones remarkably.* Protein drinks after lifting weights is a good idea, this can help build more muscle.
* Make sure you don't do drugs, or take steroids, when doing this, you most likely will get kicked off the team, it will ruin your life.

Stay safe, and have fun.
