How to Become Great in Your Own Mind

Your Opinion of Me is None of My Business

Bubba
How to become a great person in your own eyes. Dr. Martin Luther King once said "Everyone has the power of greatness. Not fame but greatness. Because greatness is determined by service." My Spiritual adviser has often told me..."Someone else' opinion of you is none of your business." Mother Theresa inspired me with the words "We can not do great things, only small things with great love."With these three concepts in my head I have set off to become great in my own mind.

I recently read that every week the average person receives 685 e-mails, 15-20 text messages, 10-15 pieces of junk mail, and one personal letter. The seed of inspiration was planted. Everyone once wrote letters and I still love that personal note penned by a friend just for me. I know I have many friends and acquaintances that would love a positive note occasionally.

Monday is the second day of the week. Monday is the beginning of the business week. Monday is the best place to start a new idea. (It worked for me!) Pre-stamped post cards are available at the Post Office..I think they are $.30 each. Every Monday I buy a three post cards. I address them over coffee. The message is short, basically I'm thinking of you. Then mail them off with a prayer.

I didn't recognize how much love I had shared until one day my dollar a week habit produced fruit. I got a letter from the son of one dear friend. He had exclaimed how great my little notes had made his Dad feel. When his Dad told him of my practice he too began sending post cards. "I don't believe how much better I feel since I began to follow your example."

This morning I got a post card from a friend. It only had this Gandhi quote and a smiley face. "We must become the change we want to see in the world." Maybe this seed that was planted in my brain is germinating. Maybe I have become a legend in my own mind. Maybe I'm just blessed with a love note from a friend.

God has blessed us each with a special Hope. I have been told that Hope is just an awakening of a dream. My Hope for us all is that we may live, laugh, and love with all the strength God has given us. Thank You fer sharin' a bit of my life. Mizpah. ;-}}>
