How to Become a Successful Squidoo Lensmaster (Part 3)

Use Social Media and Fresh Content to Boost Your Squidoo Lens Traffic

Sophielc
I have already explained in previous articles how to make a Squidoo lens SEO friendly and how to use Squidoo's community to increase your chances of becoming a successful Squidoo lensmaster. I will now focus on the use of social media and fresh content to help you get even more traffic to your Squidoo lens. Here are more simple and free ways to get more visitors and if you have implemented some of the monetizing strategies that are available to use with Squidoo these should help your Squidoo lens to generate some revenue.

Submit your Squidoo lens to social bookmarking websites: while I am not sure how this helps increasing your Squidoo lensrank, having extra backlinks and exposing your lens to the social bookmarking (Digg, StumbleUpon...) and networking websites (Facebook, MySpace...) you are a member of certainly helps your lens getting listed in the search engines and therefore it will also bring more traffic to your Squidoo lens.

Email your Squidoo lens to friends and family. Don't spam them of course but if your lens is on a topic someone you know is interested in, go ahead and encourage them to do the same with their own social network; if your lens is good, it will go viral.

Submit your lens to directories. You may think directories are just for blogs or websites but there are some directories that accept other kind of content as well. Submit your Squidoo lens to Google, Technorati and other directories that accept Squidoo lenses. There are a few directories that have been created specially for Squidoo lenses, so by all means use them. You can also submit your Squidoo lenses to Google Base, which accepts offline and online content.

Update your lens regularly. You don't have to update every single day but fresh content helps making your lens more attractive to readers as well as to search engines. You can update it daily if you wish at the beginning as you are building your lens but once it has been around for a while and it contains a good amount of quality content, once a week should be enough. If you think your lens is full enough and you are running out of ideas, you can update the tags, change a few sentences, update some outdated links, add or remove some videos, photos, etc. Using RSS feeds is also an easy way of having your Squidoo lens automatically show fresh content to your visitors.

How about asking your readers to rate, lensroll or bookmark your lens if they like it? You can do this in the introduction or at the end. People sometimes forget (I must admit I often do!) and a discreet reminder will not look inconspicuous, especially if your lens contains valuable content.

Creating good quality content will certainly help in getting traffic to your Squidoo lens but with so much competition this is not enough to become a successful Squidoo lensmaster. If you want lots of visitors that will increase your chances to make money with Squidoo you need all the help you can get. Using a combination of proven SEO techniques that work, participating in the Squidoo community and using social media and fresh, valuable content are all free and easy ways to ensure that your Squidoo lenses will generate some revenue.
