How to Get the Best Prices and Make More Money at Your Garage Sale or Yard Sale

Summer is just around the corner and many people will be having a garage sale or yard sale. Most people love to go to garage sales and yard sales, looking to get good deals on things they want or need. When people set up for these sales they mark their items for the prices they want to get for their items. Prices at these sales are usually very cheap and affordable.

Sometimes this isn't enough for some people and they will usually ask you for a cheaper price. There is only two ways to get around this, first take the offer they give you and lose out on the amount you wanted for that item. Second when pricing your items mark them 50 cents to $1.00 higher on some items. More expensive items mark them a bit higher and so on. For example if you are selling an item for $3.00 mark the item for $3.50 or $4.00. This way when they see an item they want that you wanted $3.00 for but priced it at $3.50 let them talk you down to $3.00. By doing this you are getting the price you originally wanted for the item. If you have an item that is worth more and you want $5.00 for it, price the item for $6.00 and let them talk you down to $5.00.

Another good way to make more money at a yard sale or garage sale is to shop at other sales before you have your own. Start by going to other garage sales or yard sales before you have your own sale. Look for the best prices on items and buy things that you can put in your sale for more money. If you bought something at a sale that cost $1 and you know you could get more for it, sell it at your sale for $3. There have been many times when I went to a sale and bought something. When I bought these items if they would have wanted more for it, I would of paid more because it was a very good deal. So if I paid $2 for it, I could have sold it at my yard sale for $5. Having a variety of things for sale at your garage sale or yard sale will improve your sales for the day. A lot of garage sales and yard sales seem to have the same things for sale. Most sales will have a lot of clothing for sale or knick-knacks. People who shop at these sales want to see more than just a few different items.

Another idea is when you shop at other sales before you have your own sale, find the best prices and match two items up and sell them as a pair. For example if you see a nice vase or stand that you can put something else on the stand or flowers in the vase, sell it that way. It is possible to double your money.

If you are planning on selling clothing at your sale, don't just have them folded up on a table. Find a spot where you can hang a line and hang the clothing up, this makes it easier for others to browse. When you just have the clothing folded on a table and piled up, you can't get a good view of them all. When you have to look through clothing that is folded up, you always have to refold it and put it back. Make sure you have your clothing, knick-knacks, toys, and other items in their own spot. Don't have them all over the place or all mixed up. By doing these things you will have better odds of making some good money at your garage sale or yard sale.
