How to Use Your New Bluetooth Headset

If you are reading this article then one can safely assume you have purchased two things, a cell phone and a Bluetooth headset. Now you need to know how to use your Bluetooth headset.

Because there are hundreds of makes and models of both cell phones and Bluetooth headsets there is no way this small articles can give detailed instructions for every single type of set out there. However, we can go over the basic set up procedure common to most Bluetooth headsets and cell phones. Let me caution you to READ YOUR MANUALS. It is always possible that you have something radically different than the normal and this is just meant to be a general guideline.

Before we begin you will first need four things. The first two are obvious, the cell phone and the Bluetooth headset. Next you will need the user guides or manuals for both the cell phone and the Bluetooth headset. Read the pertinent sections of both manuals before you begin. While you are doing this it is a good idea to make certain the Bluetooth is properly charged. Consult its manual for the initial charging time. Most Bluetooth headsets have very good batteries but these need to be "trained" on their initial charge so it is very important to follow the correct procedure for the first charging.

Before turning anything on, make certain there are no other cell phones nearby, in the room, which are Bluetooth compatible. Your new Bluetooth headset could latch onto the wrong cell phone by mistake.

It will first be necessary to prepare your cell phone to have the Bluetooth device locked on to it. First read your cell phone user guide or manual. Your are looking for the section on "setting up Bluetooth." The manual will instruct you in how to do this but you will, most likely go into your phones menu, then to the "tools" folder and then to the "Bluetooth" option. Once there you may set your phone to be able to interface with Bluetooth devices.

Then you will turn on your new Bluetooth device and on your cell phone select something along the lines of "search for device" under the "tools/Bluetooth" folder. The make and model of your new Bluetooth headset should appear when the cell phone has found the signal and you should receive a confirmation message asking if this is the device you wish to set up. Answer "yes" and it will lock that device to your phone.

You are done with the initial set up. Enjoy the use of your new Bluetooth headset.
