How to Have a Book Engraved

Phantom Rose

Personalizing a book is a way to add a special touch to it that lets the recipient know just how much thought you put into the gift. Having a book engraved allows you to put a message or image on it that will last a lifetime and make the book more distinctive than others of its kind. Different types of businesses can engrave a book as long as they have the appropriate tools and are willing to do so.

Step 1

Visit a personalization store that engraves books like "Things Remembered," which is usually found in malls. Explain what you would like to have engraved on your book and where you would like it engraved.

Step 2

Visit your local Bible bookstore. Because Bible bookstores oftentimes engrave messages and names on Bibles, they will sometimes engrave a book for you there as well for a fee.

Step 3

Visit your local leather and shoe repair businesses. Sometimes they have the appropriate tools with which to engrave a book for you and will do so for a fee.

Tips

"Things Remembered" usually engraves a book in 24 hours or less, whereas your local stores might take longer depending upon their business load at the time.

Warnings

The amount that it costs to have a book engraved varies based upon how difficult the engravement will be to engrave as well as where you have it engraved.
