How I Bought My IPhone

Jon Sugi
Most people have heard the news about the Apple iPhone being decreased in price. And the fact that the 4 GB version was discontinued. Well that leaves some people in a pretty sticky condition. I have a friend that happened to win one about two days before his iPhone was completely obsolete. He tried to sell his phone on eBay and make some money.

Unfortunately the news was broken to him the morning he checked his Yahoo email. But this turn of events had turned my attention. I offered him a base of two hundred dollars for the phone. He has not yet used or opened the package I don't think. But I know he has not activated the phone since he is not a AT&T customer.

There is a two fold win win situation. In this I think I will be getting the better side of the stick. He can't sell the iPhone online for any more than the two hundred I am offering him. In fact I doubt he can make that much online.

But the best part of the deal is that you can get a one hundred dollar credit in the Apple store online. I am very sure I can receive the rebate if I purchase the phone from him. But the nice thing is that it can be tacked on top of a student discount for any future purchase. Plus I can get a brand new iPhone for much less than what people originally paid.

So what is the point of this article? Well I am glad you asked. This is one of the rare situations that Apple's mistake can be beneficial for both the user and company. I highly suggest attempting to find a 4 GB iPhone and offering to buy it. You can get a great discount on a phone and get an extra one hundred dollars to buy some movies and music on iTunes for your phone.

I'm not trying to make a pitch for Apple. But I am trying to say that this is a golden opportunity to get a pretty neat phone for a low price. I will say that the monthly cost is a bit high for people who are not using what the plan offers. I myself am using the forty dollar a month plan. However, I consistently pay upwards in the fifty and low sixty dollar range. So the upgrade for me is fine. But do look at the fine print before taking an iPhone off your friend's hands. Make sure to read the agreement deals not only with Apple but with AT&T.
