Who in the heck has time to make burritos in the morning when you have to squeeze in showers, iron a shirt, feed the dog, and make the bed? The answer is simple, prepare the breakfast once or twice a month and freeze your products for later use. Learning how to make breakfast burritos and freeze can be so easy to do. The idea of advanced preparation of meals is so underutilized in today's society. It does not take a suave and sophisticated person to prepare several meals with the right planning and perhaps a helping hand.
Purchasing Breakfast Burrito Ingredients
The key ingredients to your assembly line of burrito preparation will include tortillas, eggs, cheese, and any particular meat or vegetables you prefer in your creation. Also consider packaging requirements such as freezer storage bags, a permanent marker, and perhaps a roll of paper towels. Before shopping for these ingredients consider holding off such a purchase until you can capture several of these items on sale. Also consider purchasing higher volume size with the idea of saving a little money. Consider purchasing the eggs if sale prices are given for purchasing an eighteen or two dozen pack. Perhaps the four cup or large bag of shredded cheese will have a smaller unit price compared to the small one or two cup sizes.
Preparing the Breakfast Burrito
Block off an hour or two on a weeknight or during the weekend to begin assembling your breakfast burritos. Consider recruiting a spouse or child to help you put this machine in motion. Pop in a cd or turn on the radio and get to work. The first step involves cracking all your eggs and beating them together. Some people like to stretch out the eggs and add a tiny amount of water or milk. Next, scramble the eggs together with prepared diced vegetables or meats of your choice such as ham, chopped sausage, or chorizo. Once the scrambled egg mixture is cooked, turn off burner and allow to cool. Once the eggs are cooled off, prepare an assembly line where one person spoons the burrito filling or eggs onto the tortilla. The helper or assistant will then sprinkle some cheese on the egg mixture and roll the burrito tight. Wrap in a freezer storage bag, label and date the products. These items can then go into the freezer for later use. I would recommend a campaign of about two to three dozen burritos to last a few weeks at the very least.
Reheating the Breakfast burrito
Ok. The time has come to enjoy the benefits of your labor. Pull a few bags of burritos out of the freezer. Remove each burrito out of bag and place in paper towel. Place in microwave and cook on high for about two minutes or until filling is hot. The burrito can be enjoyed right on the spot or wrapped in foil for the commute into work. If you don't have a microwave place burrito in foil in preheated oven at 350 degrees. Burrito will be done in ten minutes.
