How to Make Brewed Coffee at Home Without a Coffee Maker

DizzyGizmo
Have you ever wanted coffee but were not able to make it? The coffee maker breaks or your coffee pot gets broken and can't get that coffee fix you need. With this colder weather coming in this happened to me. I had coffee grounds but didn't have a working machine to brew it. It was chilly in the house and I wanted warm coffee to drink. So here is what I did to make a pot of coffee. Don't laugh it totally worked. If you're a coffee-holic then you may just need this one day when the craving hits. Unfortunately not everyone has the extra cash to spend these days on coffee already made.

Let's look through your kitchen and find these items that most of us should have. You'll first need a pitcher of some sort that can hold hot liquids. Next find your colander or even better a rounded small strainer or even a large funnel might work. You'll also need coffee filters and if you only have a colander you'll need something bowl shaped so the filter will hold its shape like a stryo-foam bowl. Get your tablespoon to measure out the grounds and your measuring cup to measure out the water. You'll also need something to either safely boil water in or get it hot in the microwave where you can pour it over the grounds. Okay lets put everything together now.

Step 1 Take the colander and put it on top of the open pitcher.

Step 2 Either use a styro-foam bowl with a hole cut-out in the bottom or your rounded strainer and place in the colander.

Step 3 Place your filter and coffee grounds inside the bowl or strainer. Use 1 tablespoon of grounds for every cup you wish to make. You can also use a double layer of cheesecloth if you do not have a filter.

Step 4 Carefully pour 6oz of hot water for every cup of coffee you need to make over the grounds.

Step 5 Pour into your favorite mug and fix it the way you like it best.

Step 6 Store the left over coffee in your fridge for another day.

And that's it you have made yourself some coffee. Now if you don't have any creamer you can also use milk. Or if you don't have milk try some vanilla ice cream and melt it down before putting into coffee. I had some chocolate ice cream left over and used it and it was great. Sweeten with your favorite brand of sweetener and enjoy. I hope you have fun with this one.
