How to Bring Out the Best in People

Step 1) Commend people when they've done well; diminish the negativity when someone has done poorly. If you want to bring out a good quality in someone, start highlighting the good character attribute in everything the person does. This is a great way for managers to bring out the best in employees.

Step 2) Be on their side through thick-and-thin. I firmly believe that most relationships--whether business, personal, or marriage--would improve if we just made a conscious decision to stick it out with this person through the bad times. There's no greater a builder of comraderie than difficulty.

Step 3) Tell them you love them, especially a significant other. Develop the ability to love one another without self-interest involved. This is a life-long character-building chore. People will literally do anything for you if they know you love them.
