How to Build Cottages from Candy Bars

This Isn't Your Grandma's Gingerbread House

Karen Barnes
Today I was a bit bored. I decided to go over to Better Homes and Gardens website to see what they had going on there. While looking on their main page, I noticed a video for decorating a chocolate cottage. The word that stood out most on the title was chocolate. Big surprise, right?

I clicked on the video and watched it. I found it interesting and made my mouth start watering for chocolate. My mind thought it would be fun to build one of those. I went and found the build a chocolate cottage and watched it too. Then I noticed something about displaying them. I then watched the third video.

After watching the third video of the chocolate cottage series, I noticed the link for the instructions and pattern. I decided to take a look. It has all the instructions for everything I saw in the videos.

These chocolate candy bar cottages can be built and decorated for the holidays. You could make and decorate a set for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine's Day, Fourth of July, and any other major holiday you celebrate. Those aren't the only holidays or celebrations you can build them for. You can make them for birthdays, anniversaries or any other event you want to celebrate.

The best thing about the chocolate cottages is that you can eat them. This would be one of the times when building something could be fun to destroy it. Not only that, I suspect you would have help in the demolition process.

Chocolate Cottage Miniature Town Instructions

There is a link for printable instructions for each of the three houses shown. You will find instructions for the snowman, and pine trees to create an edible chocolate cottage village. The template link is listed at the bottom of the first page of the Chocolate Cottage Miniature Town Instructions. You will need to sign up for the bhg.com website to get access to the templates for both sizes of houses. It took me awhile to figure out where the templates were located on bhg.com like the lady said.
