How to Build Your Feedback on Ebay

Barbie Crafts
If you want to sell on Ebay, whether on a large or small scale, it is very important to build your feedback. Feedback is that little number besides someone's Ebay username. It indicates the amount of business they have conducted on Ebay. You may have a feedback rating of 200, and you might still have some negative ratings, but a customer could assume that basically you are not new to Ebay.

Besides the feedback number, a customer should always also look at the feedback comments left for a seller by previous buyers. Someone may certainly have a disgruntled customer occasionally who might leave a negative comment. However, the comments you find on a seller' s profile page tell you quite a lot about their business dealings in general. Someone who has several comments that indicate either shoddy products or very poor service should probably be viewed with caution.

So, if you want to sell on Ebay, how do you build a customer feedback score that you can be proud of? You need this as a credential to show to potential customers you are seeking to attract.

What sort of things can you do to achieve good feedback?

Before you start selling on Ebay regularly, you should buy some items. It doesn't have to be expensive things. I did my Christmas shopping on Ebay the Christmas before we really started as regular sellers. I did a little selling along as we went, but you do lack the credentials to sell on a large scale. This is not to say that you can't sell in this situation.

You may have to ask the seller to give you your feedback. Many will wait until you give them positive feedback before they give you your feedback. When I was making purchases in order to develop feedback, I did not hesitate to ask for my feedback, explaining what I was trying to do. Of course, you always want to pay promptly when making a purchase.

When you are a seller, be sure you are courteous to any customers who contact you with questions. Be sure the merchandise is fairly represented in your listing information and picture. And, it is best to be overly upfront with any flaws in the product to avoid disappointed customers and bad feedback. My Ebay store link is included at the end. Notice my feedback. Also notice my listings, and observe how forthright my decriptions are. When there is a flaw, I list a flaw! Usually, I even take a picture of the flaw!

Send your orders out in lightning speed. We try to get orders out the next day after a person pays. This doesn't always happen, but we try to. People are so surprised to get their items so quickly that they usually give you good feedback for this.

When you pack your items, wrap each thing in a clear plastic bag. This is very professional, and gives even used items a nicer appearance. We use food storage bags that have twist ties, but we don't put the ties on them. They are very cheap!

We started putting little extra toys in with our items early in our Ebay business. People like to get a surprise, and it creates positive goodwill. If postage allows, we still do this. Try to find a little bonus item that goes with your item theme.

Give buyers their feedback quickly after they pay. They may be trying to build their feedback, and they appreciate this.

This is the most difficult and most important tip of all on how to build your feedback on Ebay. You should remember the customer is always right. If there is a problem, refund the money. Even if you know you are right, and they are wrong, refund the money. This is so very important, and I can't stress it enough. And, don't bicker with the customer! And just refund the money. In the long run, this is the very best thing to do. Bad feedback costs you more than the item, most of the time.
