Bento Box Brown Bag Lunches for Your Student

Shawna Straub
It happens every year when school starts back up. What to pack in the "cold" lunch for your favorite student? Kids are visual and need to have a lunch that not only tastes good, but looks appealing as well. So how do you accomplish all of these things and still keep it well organized and easy to pack? I've found some incredible blogs on the subject of Bento Box lunches and even I get hungry after viewing these tasty treasures.

Here are some easy recipes (see the blog here for pictures of each of these delectable treasures) to get you started on our international brown bag lunches!

• Pita w/ hummus wedges, 2 falafel, sweet potatoes, tortilla chips, pea pods, baby-bel, pineapple w/ cherries
and some coconut bread with chocolate chips in it.

• Carrot "flowers", orzo spinach salad, chocolate rolls, little sausages, babybel, crackers and some oranges.

• Chicken salad sandwich, pickles, cheese, cottage cheese w/ pineapple, carrots, almonds and two
cheesecake Hershey's kiss

• Onigiri with soy sauce, cheese and crackers, cucumber chain, peppers, edamame on picks and 2
chocolate chip cookies.

Wondering how to store these tasty tidbits? Try visiting Laptop Lunches website to order starting at $21.00. These sturdy plastic containers will get you off on the right foot and your kids will be able to store any leftovers without any issues. Recommended ages for these creations is 5 years to 8 years (portion size is appropriate for these age groups).

Remember that kids need to be exposed to a new food sometimes up to 14 times before they will try and/or adapt to it. Helping your children to eat healthy can be a joint experience by involving them in packing and preparing the lunch. With the Bento Box type lunches it will be more like a puzzle than just a boring baggy! Eat Up!
