How to Build Your Own Freewebs Website

Rae
Freewebs is a very popular free website builder. It provides the user with a ton of options that will make a wonderful website either for personal or professional use. With a few pointers, you too can make an amazing website using freewebs.

The first step to making a freewebs website is to go to freewebs.com and register. Your user name will be part of your url, so be sure to pick something that has to do with your content. After you have registered, you will be asked to select a template for your site. Your template determines what the background of your site will look like and also such key features as where your navigation bar will be located and what your default text color will be. Chose a template that works well with your content.

After you have chosen a template, you will find yourself on your member's home page. In the top right corner, there is a large orange button that reads EDIT MY SITE. Click this button. Your will be take to the site builder. If you scroll down, you will see a table with a list of your pages in it. Each site starts with a home page and a guestbook. Click on the title of a page to edit it. Let's begin by setting up the home page.

Click the word HOME in the table. This should bring up a screen with two frames. The top frame is a freewebs user bar and the bottom one in the site builder with your home page showing. Click the ADD PARAGRAPH button. At this point you can add a paragraph title and text. To insert a picture, click the picture of the tree in the toolbar above the text box. You can either select a picture you have already uploaded or upload a new one from your computer. An example of pictures added to a website can be seen here.

To insert html in your homepage, click the image above the text box. This will bring up a window that allows you to add html code. However, if you have already typed text, your html object will automatically go to the bottom of the screen. You can then select and drag it in the text box to the place you would like it to be. This is great for creating links or animated graphics. An example of banners from html code can be seen here.

Once you have finished the paragraph, click the DONE button in the top right hand corner. This will bring you back to the split frame view of your home page. You can add more paragraphs if you like. When you are finished, click the orange DONE button in the top frame. This will return you to the website builder. You can add more pages by clicking the ADD NEW PAGE option above the table that shows your existing pages. These pages can be edited in the same way the home page was.

As mentioned before, all freewebs websites begin with a home page and a guestbook. If you would like to remove the guestbook or any other page of your website, begin in the site builder. In the table that lists your pages, find the page you wish to remove. To the right of the page name there will be a line of buttons. Click the orange and white X to remove a page from your site.

With these simple tips you should be able to make a website with several pages, graphics and any html codes you may wish to add. Happy building!
