How to Build a Perfect Snowman

Brandon Elliott
Making a snowman is one of a child's favorite activities to do while playing in the snow. It is something that you can do as a family or by yourself, as long as you make sure you have fun while doing it.

Seeing as it is the winter season, and snow is falling outside my window as I write this, I thought it would be necessary to inform readers of how to build a snowman.

To make the snowman that I will explain, you will only need snow, a scarf, 2 sticks, a handful of rocks, and a carrot.

First, be sure that it is not too cold outside. If it is, the snow will be icy and it will be extremely difficult to make a snowman. It's best if the snow is soft and fluffy.

After making sure it isn't too cold outside, you can begin making a snowball. To make a snowball, simply gather some snow in your hands and compact it together, making a tightly formed ball of snow. After you have your snowball, place it in the snow and roll it around. As you roll the snowball around, the snow will stick to it and it will increase in size. Continue until you have a snowball roughly two feet in diameter.

After you have your base snowball, you need to repeat the previous step until you have a second snowball that's about 6 inches smaller in diameter than the first one. Roll it next to the base and lift it up, making sure it is firmly sitting on top of the base snowball.

Repeat the step for one last time to create the final snowball, which should be 6 inches less in diameter than the middle snowball. Place it on top of the middle snowball to make the rough model of a snowman.

Now that you have the basic snowman, you need to take snow and pack it into the creases where the three snowballs meet. Make sure that all three snowballs are secure and won't fall over.

Time for decoration! Place 2 small rocks where the eyes are supposed to be, a carrot for the nose, and several rocks in a row to create the mouth. Insert sticks into the middle snowball to make arms, and wrap the scarf around it's neck.

Finally, your snowman is complete. Step back and admire your perfect snowman while you can, before the snow begins to melt and destroys your masterpiece.

Oh, I WISH I'd have a chance to do this! It rarely snows where I live, but they ARE calling for some tonite. (Fingers crossed) If it does, I'll use your tips. ;-)
