How to Build a Profile on BizPreneur and Lazzeo

Someone has just given you a referral ID and telling you how great the BizPreneur business networking community is and how friendly the people are. So you decide to join and after placing your personal information such as a user name, email address, password, and a couple other things you are thrust into your back office. Only problem is you may have no idea what to do or where to go to make things work. You get a few welcome messages and after looking at those individuals profiles you say to yourself, "I want to know how to do that". Then you make your way around the site, can't figure out what to do and then it slowly starts to happen. The frustration sets in as you aren't getting anything done and feel like you are wasting your time and before you know it, you don't go to the website anymore or very rarely.

One of the biggest challenges is being able to accept change and what may work for one networking community as far as setting up your profile may not work for another. Trust me, I'm in almost 50 different communities myself and each one is different and it can become frustrating at times. So instead of you going through the same dilemmas I did let me teach you with some simple steps that will get your profile up within an hour or even less. Most of that time is finding the layout you want to use.

On BizPreneur if whether you are a member or not one of the great benefits of setting up a great looking profile here is that you don't have to use a lot of html code and worry about going to other sites to get it. One of the first things everyone does is do what they know and that is writing about your interests, backgrounds and ambitions. After that you want to find some sort or background (layout) that will spruce your profile up instead of looking like the "plain jane" default that the site gives you. So how do you do it? Let me tell you.

#1 Find a layout that you like and think others will as well. If you don't know where to look you can go to google search and type in "myspace layouts" and they will give you millions of searches. My favorites are Pimp-My-Profile, Revolutions Myspace, and Free Hot Layouts which you can do a search on as well. These sites have less pop up ads than most of the others, but if you come across one while you are on these sites look up on the top right part of the page and you will see a link that says, "Skip This Ad".

#2 With BizPreneur you don't have to worry about getting the html code and placing it on your page. All you have to do is find the Layout that you want, then Preview Layout, this will most likely show you how it would look on a MySpace page, but don't worry you can place it on any networking site. Now right click the background, select Save Background As, Name your layout and press OK or saved whichever option it gives you. You now have your new layout for your profile at BizPreneur.

#3 Next go back to your BizPreneur account. While you are logged in you will see a navigation bar that reads My Page, Edit Profile, etc. etc. Click on Edit Profile. You will then see Account Settings, Profile Settings, Profile Picture, Design My Profile, etc. Click Design My Profile.

#4 This is where you can get confused, irritated, overwhelmed or what have you, but remember, we are doing this elementary style so one thing at a time okay. You will see now a button that reads Browse in the Background Image section, simply click that and grab the Layout you just saved to your computer. When you got it, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click Save Profile Settings. Now click My Page in the navigation bar and you will be able to see your change. Note: If by chance you don't see anything but your default page just refresh your page and it will show up. Only problem is you can only see the sides of it right? Well we are going to take care of that right now.

#5 Go back and click Edit Profile and Design My Profile again. You should now be back to the area with your background image. If you want to be able to see your background layout fully then do the following.

On the left you will see each boxes description, you will also see a Select Colors link. I am going to keep this basic so read carefully.........

If you have chose a Dark background I want you to do the following. Every box that says Text Color or Link Color next to it I want you to type #FFFFFF in that box. To make it easier on you type it in the first box that says Text Color or Link Color and then copy it by highlighting it and right clicking your mouse. Then paste it in each of those boxes containing Text Color or Link Color on the left all the way down the page until you come to the very last one. Remember only the boxes that contain Text Color or Link Color on the left side of the page. Great your almost finished!!!!

#6 The other boxes goes as follows. The very first box under your image selection should stay blank, but every other box that you did not see a Text Color or Link Color next to it I want you to type the word Transparent in the box. Again highlight it and copy, then paste it in all the boxes that are empty. All of your boxes should be full now except for the one I told you to leave blank. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click Save Profile Settings.

Then click My Page to view your new page. Remember to refresh the page or you will think it didn't work, so don't forget. Now, that is if you have a dark background. If you have a light background instead of making the Text Color and Link Color white and placing #FFFFFF you are going to use #000000 which will make the font black. This is just the basics, when you get the hang of it you can go to the Select Color box and pick whatever color works best to blend well with your background.
