You're going to want to eat a lot of calories. Calories are the basic units of energy that you get from your food. The government recommends that we take in 2000 calories a day. However, the government also recommends that the majority of our diets be grains, and that a "brisk walk" is "intense exercise". We can pretty much throw what the government recommends out the window. We're going to outline three powerful allies in the pursuit of muscle, here.
The first is whole milk. If you can afford organic milk, do that. Milk has some 150 calories per cup, and 2400 per gallon. At $3-4 per gallon, with plenty of protein, milk is one of our best friends for building muscle. You can drink a gallon a day if you have to. Milk goes down easily and, because it's liquid, it's digested quickly. The only problem might be having to run to the restroom often, but if you're jacked, everyone's going to stay out of your way on the way there, anyway.
The second is extra virgin olive oil. It's not all that expensive. I recommend buying little disposable plastic or paper cups, the kind that are often used in hospitals for giving water with medicine, the kind that are a little taller than your thumb. Fill that about half-way with olive oil, and have a warm glass of water nearby. Chug the olive oil down, with your head back, and let it go down your throat. Don't let yourself choke. You will feel a burning sensation. Drink the water slowly. You can do this several times a day if you like. Olive oil is good for you, and it's an easy way to put down some calories.
The third way is my little secret that I'm going to share with you. Buy digestive enzymes and take them with all your meals. Every time you eat, take some digestive enzymes. They will help break down your food, enabling you to eat more and more. If you can eat more, you can put down more calories. You won't feel bloated. Be careful about doing this before bed. There have been times that I've eaten before bed, taken the enzymes, and wound up waking up in the middle of the night, starving, because the enzymes had digested my food so quickly. I would estimate that taking digestive enzymes can cut in half the time it takes for food to digest.
With these tools in mind, feel liberated. You can build as much muscle as you like. Lift hard, eat much, and you will reap the benefits from it.
