How to Get Business Bank Account for Minors

What to Do, and Things to Look For

One of the most exciting things about starting a business is getting a bank account where you can manage all of your money. For most teenage entrepreneurs, they will feel a rush of accomplishment when they open the bank account. Of course, we all know that a lot of work will follow it, but it's a good step to start on. Before getting your company started, you need to open a business account first to manage your money. With a bank account, your business has a real identity in the business world. You will also get a check and ATM card to easily manage and access your money.

It's a big responsibility. Because of the responsibility, many banks will not allow minors, under 18 years old, to open a bank account. Some may allow you to open a bank account only if you have your parent's permission and consent - that is, if they're willing to be accountable for anything you may do wrong. For a teenage entrepreneur, it is important to find a reputable bank that will let you have your own bank account.

To start of with a business account, you need to go to the bank and speak to the new accounts officer. The new accounts officer will sit down with you, and discuss how much money you plan to deposit in the bank to start with, and the checks you'll need to write. There are many different things your new accounts officer may want to discuss with you. Remember to write in your business plan so you know what you need before you walk in.

Your initial amount is the money that you have saved or borrowed to start up your business with. To estimate your monthly account balance, you might start with the net profit and the money you may need monthly. It also depends on your monthly income. This isn't a test though so you don't have to worry about it much.

The more information you have for the bank the easier it will be to match you up with a suitable account type. The bank has many different accounts that will require a minimal monthly average, and features. Depending on your circumstance, the different accounts will benefit you in different ways. There are all things about the account that you should consider, and a lot of comparison you should do between the different accounts. Finding the best account that is suitable for you will allow your company to expand and prosper. It is important to keep in mind all of the different features each account has so if your company differs, and another account is more suitable, you can change it immediately to suit your needs.

Last but not least, remember to see what is the required identification and documentation you need to start a business up with. To verify that you have a legitimate business that is identified there may be a lot of documentation that you'll need to verify your status. Ask the new accounts officer what they need to see before you go into the office so you won't be missing any documentation!
