2. Do your research. To stand out you need to know what is going to get you attention, what your customers want and so on, so get researching using both online and offline sources.

3. Differentiate. Standing out is all about being just that little bit different. SO if you want to stand out differentiate yourself from your competitors, be it having a unique USP, adding a new product line or range, or just giving outstanding customer service all day everyday.

4. Identify your appeal. Find out what is appealing about your business, and find out what your customers find appealing. Appealing to your customers will help you stand out from the crowd and your competition/competitors.

5. Be the best that you can be. Try to be the most effective and efficient business that you can be.

6. Build a brand. Build a brand around your business, and build your business into a brand, so that it is easily recognisable and known. Being recognised will definitely help you stand out from the crowd.

7. Know your competition inside out and like the back of your hand. The better you know your competition the better you can be. Know their strengths and their weaknesses and then you will be able to spot and identify niches and areas which you can take advantage of - that will help you stand out above the rest!

8. Be good to your customers. Being good and better than good to your customers, will help you stand out from the crowd and from your competitors. So get your customer care policy in order from day one.
