Now that you decided you want to purchase bike mirrors let's discuss how to buy them properly. First, make sure to know what type of bicycle mirrors exactly you want. Many people fail to do this step, and end up paying more than they really should. Make your research, read about the different types that can accommodate to your needs and budget, and only then, make a final decision.
After you decide the type of bicycle mirror that you need, take some time to compare the prices. The same type of mirror can have huge price variations depending on the brand, and sometimes even from store to store. Invest some time looking for the same item in different places and you will be saving a lot of money.
Avoid helmet-attached bicycle mirrors. It is a very common mistake many people do, but bicycle mirrors that attach to your helmet are not as good as the ones attached to your glasses. Helmet mirrors tend to be more fragile; their construction is not as sturdy and they are easier to get scratched, and the adhesive ones can fall from your helmet if you are in a harsh trail.
It would also be ideal if you can see and feel the pair of mirrors you are about to buy. The internet has made it very easy for us to search items of different brands in different locations from the comfort of our homes, but sometimes what you buy is not as good as it looks in the picture. If you have a store nearby that carries the same item, it is a good idea to go and look at it, and if it is not possible, at least look for reviews and recommendations online about that particular item. Follow all this steps, and you'll be on your way to making a better buy. Some of these steps are not only destined to buying bicycle mirrors; they can help you buy any kind of accessory for your bike, or even overall shopping. Be smart and avoid impulse buying.
