We are going green in other areas of our lives, until recently moms only had the option of cloth diapers vs. disposable. Now we have a new greener choice with a little more flexibility and convenience.
My previous article briefly mentioned the biodegradable diapers. I got such a good response with people wanting to know more, that I decided to write an article outlining the biodegradable diaper manufactured under the name of G Diapers. They offer a new diaper made from recycled pulp that can be wrapped and thrown away, or broken down in water and flushed. Now that's an improvement over cloth diapers any day.
Until now the only choice for parents who wanted to live green, was cloth diapers.I used them when my kid's were little but they do have some drawbacks. They are cheaper to buy and use than disposables, their washable, and soft on the baby's bottom. On the other hand, there's diapers and plastic outer pants to deal with, they aren't as absorbent and tend to leak,(especially with larger babies)and have to be bleached frequently because they tend to stain with wear. And a lot of babies with sensitive skin have frequent bouts with diaper rash due to the soap and bleach used in the diapers.
The G Diaper company makes a Diaper that is Eco friendly because it is biodegradable, breaks down in months and not years, can also be flushed in most standard size toilets, and is soft and comfortable. The diaper itself is composed of a soft outer cover with Velcro wraps, an inner disposable liner, and is used similar to disposables.
For convenience and sanitation, the diaper insert can be removed and flushed down most standard toilets.A word of caution though, older drain systems may over time become narrow with use. A good thing might be to remove any solid waste from the diaper first, then soak the liner in a pail of water to soften it and help it to break down.Break up the remaining pulp with a stick and when it is resembled wet toilet paper, flush it down. That's it. The other option of course is to remove the liner, wrap in a biodegradable bag and throw it away, whichever disposal method you choose.
Modern moms have a lot to handle in a day. Feeding and caring for their families, work and school schedules, who wants to add soaking and rinsing dirty diapers to an already full to do list!
The diaper covers come in a choice of three covers, two are included with the first package. With the starter kid you also get 10 flush able liners and a handy users guide. Also if you go to the G Diapers website you can watch a video of how to flush the liner. Also these are compostable, as well.So even more options.
