How to Buy a Blow Dryer

World class hair salons are critically acclaimed for their reputed stylists that share clients who are amongst some of the biggest names in Hollywood. From Ken Paves to Daniel Dicriscio, famous hair stylists are setting the trends for the future. However, one thing rings clear - their tools remain the same as countless other 'normal' hair salons around the country, from the backwoods to the cosmopolitan areas. They (and many others) are famous because they understanding the tools they're using. Reaching one step closer to stylist status means familiarizing yourself with your trusted blow dryer.

There are a variety of blow dryers on the market to suit every need. However, there are universal rules that dictate what constitutes a 'solid' blow dryer. For starters, hair buffs should aim for dryers with at least 1,800 watts. These are known to work the best. In addition, you should choose a hair dryer with a long life motor that does not block the airflow like those found in cheap dryers. Filters should be easily cleaned to make this happen. Secondly, enthusiasts know that blow dryers have to have multiple heat settings and not just 1-2. Ideally, you will want anywhere from 5 to 7 different settings. A 'cold air' setting is critical. Blow dryers should be able to blast cold air with the press of a button to help fix your style in place.

For the most part, there are three major categories of hair dryer: cheap ones, moderately priced ones, and professional. Cheap blow dryer will cost you anywhere from $10 to $20 and is not recommended for the average person. To begin, they only have 2 settings at most. If one setting's heat level is too high, your hair will split quickly. These dryers are best reserved for those with short hair that need a quick heat blast to help dry hair faster. Try to limit your exposure to a cheap blow dryer with 1-2 settings.

Moderately priced blow dryers have a little bit of cheapness and professional. They usually cost between $20 to $100 dollars and come with multiple heat settings along with new technology that speeds up the drying process. Lastly, there are professional blow dryers that cost upwards of $100 which promise a smooth and quiet operation along with technology that reduces drying time. Really expensive blow dryers will even add moisture to your hair to lessen heat damage. Trust a professional blow dryer to get the job done - they are more powerful and have more of the bells and whistles to keep your hair strong and healthy.
