The Electrum Spyder electric car is produced by the Universal Electric Vehicle corporation ( UEV.) UEV has been in the business of developing zero emissions electric power vehicle since 1998. Currently they have two different offerings that may interest you.
The first is their Electrum Spyder model. According to UEV's specs the 2008 Electrum Spyder has a range of 150 - 250 miles ( depending on battery option ), will go from 0 to 60 mph in seven seconds and has a top speed of over 100 mph. UEV goes on to claim that the Spyder's battery pack can be recharged from a completely dead state to full capacity in six hours. The car is a two seat sports car with a removable hardtop, tinted glass, electric heater / defroster, air conditioning, and electric windows. Other options include touch screen navigation and CD / DVD / XM audio options. The UEV corporation totes the Electrum Spyder's safety features which include a superior front and rear crash zones, four wheel disk brakes, and a inertia switch which cuts power to the car in case of an accident. The Electrum Spyder is made from a polyester glass fiber composite over a steel chassis, a great combination of lightweight yet strong materials.
The second is the Electrum COM-V3 model. COM-3V stands for commuter vehicle with three wheels. The Electrum COM-V3 has a range of 70 - 150 miles ( depending on battery option ), will go from 0 to 60 mph is seven seconds and has a top speed of 80 mph. UEV claims the Electrum COM-V3's battery pack can be recharged from a completely dead state to full capacity in eight hours. The car has tinted glass, electric heater / defroster, radio with CD player, and electric windows. Air conditioning is also available as an option. The Electrum COM-V3 model sports such safety features as superior front and rear crash zones, three wheel disk brakes, and a inertia switch which cuts power to the car in case of an accident. The Electrum COM-V3 like its brother vehicle is made from a polyester glass fiber composite over a steel chassis.
Ordering a UEV car is as simple as calling a phone number on the website and that will get you started. Overall UEV's offerings are worth taking a look at and I strongly suggest you check out their website for yourself.
