These are some steps you can take when trying to buy an iPod.

1) What do you want?
It might seem like a simple step but the first step is to decide exactly what you want. Do you want an iPod shuffle because of its small size? Do you want an iPod Nano because it has a camera? Do you want the iPod Touch for its web browser? Do you have a large library of music and need a lot of GB? Think about what exactly you want to get from your iPod and then do some research to find out which iPod has those features.

2) Price
After considering what type of iPod you want the next consideration is price. At the iPod Store a refurbished 16GB iPod Nano typically goes for $110 to $130, the 120 GB iPod Classic normally sells for $180 to $200, a 32GB iPod Touch usually sells for $240 to $260, while the 1GB iPod Shuffle goes for $30 to $50.

3) New or Used
The next question to ask yourself is, are you willing to settle for a used or refurbished iPod or do you want a new one? A used iPod can be a cheap alternative but be sure to get the warranty from the seller so you can get it replaced if it doesn't work for very long. A refurbished iPod is an iPod that is repaired by Apple. It is a safer option than used iPod and cheaper than a new iPod.

4) Apple Store
There are a lot of people that have bad things to say about Apple but they are good about dealing with their iPod customers. The best place to buy your iPod, regardless if it is a new or refurbished iPod, is to buy one from an Apple store. Refurbished iPods will come with a one year warranty while a new iPod has much longer options for warranties.

5) Other Stores
Other Options are your local electronics store or Amazon for new iPod or eBay and Overstock Auction for used iPods.

6) Accessories
Also consider whether you will want any accessories to go with your iPod. Some accessories include a case to keep the iPod safe, adapters for your cars, headphones, recharging decks, armbands for jogging or speakers to play the iPod out loud.
