How to Buy a Trench Coat

Trench Coats are a classic choice. Although their popularity in the fashion world goes up and down, trench coats are always stylish and fashionable and never really go out of style. They are a great choice for almost any woman. Weather you are buying a trench coat for yourself or as a gift for someone special, there are a few guidelines that should be followed.

When buying a trench coat an important factor to consider is the Fabric. Wrinkle resistant types of fabric are the best kinds when buying a trench coat. They are great fabrics for a when you wish to buy a low maintenance yet stylish coat that you can almost always fall back on. Choose cotton blends, but avoid light weight cottons. Other good choices are thicker fabrics like wool and tweed.

The lining is another factor to consider. The best type of lining is warmer and removable. This will allow the trench coat you choose to be worn from early spring through the start of winter. This is an important factor when giving a trench coat as a gift. Who doesn't love a highly functional gift? If for some reason you do not need a trench coat for most seasons, go with a light lining for a spring and fall trench coat.

One of the main components of a trench coat is the belt. It must have a belt, to be a great trench coat. Try to choose a coat with a great belt, and do not wear this coat buckled. As most trench coats come with a buckle it will be hard to find one without one, but they aren't required because the belt looks better when it is tied.

Another large component to consider when buying a trench coat is the buttons. They should be sewn on by hand and reinforced on the inside of the coat for the best longevity. I recommend that you choose a trench coat with mid sized buttons. This will help ensure that the coat is a classic piece of any wardrobe that can always be worn in style. Large and small buttons tend to go in and out with the trends that come and go.

When you are buying a trench coat, you want one with a great fit. Make sure to check the rear pleat. Make sure that it closes easily, if it does not then the coat is too small.
