How to Buy a Video Game You Will Like
This Guide Will Allow Even the Most Clueless Person to Buy a Video Game that They Will Enjoy
First, you need to know what type of system you have. If you are playing on a computer, you want to know your system requirements. Simply go to your control panel, and copy them down. This way, the game that you will buy will be able to be played on your computer. If you are playing on a Home console, be sure to know which one you have. Most games only play on the system you have, unless you have the next generation of the console. For example, if you have a Playstation 2, but want to buy a Playstation game, it is ok, because the Playstation 2 is backwards compatible. If you are playing on a handheld console, also be sure which one you have. Most GameBoy games will play on each generation system, but they will not be compatible with a Sony Playstation Portable.
Next, you need to decide your price range. Most New, popular console and PC games run about $50-$60. If that is to much, you can consider buying Used, which is most oftenly 10% off the original price, or you can rent them at a store like Blockbuster. You also may be able to find deals on older games, or bundles where the purchase of multiple games is cheaper than just a single one.
Then, you need to determine your age range. If you are younger than 13, your game choices are going to be defined to Rated E games. If you are between 13 and 17, you have the option of moving up to Rated T games. Finally, if you are 17 or older, you can buy both Rated M and A/O video games. Although it is not a law, most stores follow the rating system very carefully.
Finally, you need to decide what is the best game for you. If you like action, with lots of guns and violence, try picking up an Action/Adventure game, like Halo 3 or Call of Duty 4. If you enjoy cars, think about a racing game, like Burnout Paradise. And if you like games that will make you think, try an RTS, or Real Time Strategy, like Age of Mythology. The person behind the counter will most likely be able to point you in the direction of your video game taste, all you have to do is ask.
Now that you are a Video game pro, it is your duty to go out and pick the videogame of your dreams. Whether its Action, Racing, or Strategy, the choices are endless.
