How to Cancel a MySpace Account

Easily Cancel You MySpace Account and Why You Would Want To

Matthew Steed
MySpace can be a lot of fun. It can be a great way to stay in touch with old friends and a fun way to meet new friends. However, having all of your information posted on the web, often times with embarrassing photos and comments can sometimes cause problems. If you don't want your new boyfriend, girlfriend, or potential employer to know all about your past, you may want to cancel your MySpace account. In fact, many employers now check sites like MySpace and Facebook and use what they find on those pages as a tool to help them evaluate candidates. I'm sure you would not want a potential employer to see you passed out drunk in the bushes, would you?

Canceling your MySpace account is pretty straightforward. To cancel your account, you will need to know the email address you used to sign up for MySpace and still have access to that email account. You will also need to know your MySpace password. If you've forgotten your password, you can use MySpace's lost password feature which will send a message to the email address on file with a new password.

Once you're logged in to MySpace, click on the "Home" link on the upper left-hand side from any MySpace page. Once on your home page, click on the "My Account" link on the upper right-hand side of the page. This will take you to the settings for your MySpace account, and specifically on the "Contact Info" section of your settings.

From the "Contact Info" section within the settings, look for the navigation bar near the top of the page. It will show you're on Contact Info" and the option next to it will be and option labeled "Account." Click on the "Account" link and when the account page appears select "Cancel Account" toward the bottom of the page.

Once you select "Cancel Account" you will be asked a reason as to why you're canceling. You must select a reason in order to proceed. The final page will ask you to confirm that you indeed want to cancel your account. Be sure you really want to cancel as you will no longer be able to access your account including any pictures and comments.

Once you confirm you indeed want to cancel your MySpace account, an email will be sent to the address on file. You must click the link in the email to finalize the cancellation of your MySpace account.
