How a Car Engine Oil Level is Checked

Neglecting some of the car maintenance necessary as a car owner can cause a damaging effect on a car itself that can lead to car breaking down.

One of the simple maintenance that a car owner must regularly do which can cause a very damaging effect on a car when neglected is by checking the car engine oil level.

How to check your car engine oil level? It's easy, just follow below steps.

Step1. Start your car engine and let it run until the engine operating temperature is reach.

Step2. Turn the engine off after the operating temperature is reach and wait for a few minutes so that the oil is drain back into the oil pan.

Step3. After a few minutes remove the dipstick and wipe it clean, then re-insert.

Step4. Remove the dipstick again and check the oil level, it should be between the "H" and "L" marks or between the cutout edges. If the oil level is below the "L" mark/low level, remove the oil filler cap and pour a necessary amount of recommended oil through the opening. Do not over refill.

Step5. Check again the oil level with dipstick.

Operating with insufficient amount of oil can damage your car engine, and if such damage occurs it is not covered by your car warranty that is why it is necessary to check your car engine oil regularly and add whenever necessary, especially during break-in period or between oil maintenance intervals, it is normal to add some oil depending on the severity of operating conditions.
