Pet birds live for various amounts of time, depending on the type of bird it is. There are many pet birds that only live for a couple of years, but others will live much longer. Therefore, in order to care for your aging pet bird properly, the first thing you have to do is figure out how long of a lifespan your bird typically has. Unlike humans and certain pets like dogs and cats, most birds don't really change their appearance as they get older, so you'll need to know when your pet is going to be an old bird and prepare for it.
Not a lot changes in birds as they age. If your pet bird spends most of its time in a cage, it's going to appear the same day in and day out. However, in most cases, your aging bird will be going through changes you simply can't see. To make sure you're going to be able to care for it properly, pay attention to what it does when it's young. For instance, you might want to pay attention to how far it hops or flies or any other action it performs during the daytime. This way, as it starts to get older, you can see if it's changing anything about the way it acts.
The best thing you can do to help your aging pet though is to make sure that it always has access to what it needs, such as fresh water, food, and treats. These things should be placed in areas where your pet bird doesn't have to move a lot to be able to get to them. This is important because as your bird gets older, you'll want to have these in easy reach so it can still take care of itself.

Post a CommentNot very informative, actually: "become aware of your bird's projected age and get ready for it and make sure they're comfortable"
???
Hardly helpful. It's common sense.
