How to Care for Contact Lenses

How to Care for Contact Lenses

I have been pulled into the 21st century by my son. I have worn glasses for ages and he finally convinced me to give contacts a try. I am not one that likes putting things into my eyes and this was a challenge to me. However I will attempt to use them for as long as I can. There were three types of lenses that I could choose from, Disposable lenses, were lenses that I could wear for one day, then throw them away. Daily wear lenses were lenses that I could use over and over again, Take them out when I was ready for bed, clean and rinse them and use them again. Extended wear lenses were lenses that I could have left in my eyes for up to 30 days even while I slept. I choose the Daily wear soft lenses.

Here are some tips for keeping your eyes healthy and comfortable while you
wear contact:

- Wash and rinse your hands before touching your lenses.
- Use only the lens cleaners and eye drops that your eye doctor suggests.
- Follow the directions that came with your lenses, lens cleaner, and
eye drops.
- Take care of your lens case. Clean, rinse, and dry it each time you
take out the lenses.
- Use eye makeup that is safe for contact lens users.
- Do not spit on your lenses to clean them.
- Do Not use tap water, bottled water, or salt water made at home
to store or rinse your lenses. It can cause infections.
- Do not let lotions, creams, or sprays touch your lenses.
- Don't use eyeliner on the inside of your lower eyelid.

I have always been to scared to try out contact lenses. Just the thought of putting something that close to my eye makes me shiver.

My question is why would someone intentionally poke something into their eyes? Makes my eyes water to just think about it.
