How to Care for Your Grooming Products with Natural Cleaners
Hairbrushes, Combs, Makeup Brushes, Curlers and Curling Iron
To naturally clean your curling iron and remove hairspray and styling products residue, unplug your cool curling iron, wipe the barrel, and clip with a paper towel and alcohol.
To naturally clean your Velcro rollers, run some warm water in the sink and add a squirt of shampoo (buy an inexpensive brand just for this purpose). Add your roller and allow to soak for about thirty minutes. Drain sink, rinse them well with clear water, then lay your rollers out on a towel. Make sure you dry them thoroughly before using them again.
To naturally clean your combs, fill your sink with warm water. Add a squirt of dishwashing liquid, add about ¼ cup of ammonia. Soak them for thirty minutes. Rinse well with clear water and lay on a towel to dry.
To naturally clean your hairbrushes, first take a comb and run through the bristles to remove any loose hair. Then fill your sink with warm water. Add a squirt of dishwashing liquid and ¼ cup of white vinegar. Allow your hairbrushes to soak for about a half hour, drain the water, rinse well under clear water, and lay on a towel to dry. Beauty experts recommend cleaning hairbrushes, makeup brushes and combs once weekly.
To naturally clean your make-up brushes and protect your investment, put some warm water in a small bowl and add a squirt of shampoo. Cleaning one brush at a time, rub the bristles around on the bottom of the bowl to clean. In another small bowl, mix warm water with a squirt of hair conditioner. Rinse your brushes by swishing them. This will keep your makeup brushes in good condition. Dry them by pressing the bristles between the folds of a paper towel, and place in a container with the bristles up. Before using, fluff the bristles lightly and they are ready to use.
Keeping your grooming and beauty products clean means less residue comes into contact with your clean hair and face, and there is less chance of a build-up of germs. Make cleaning them a part of your regular routine.
