Since the creation of the carpet, the invention of the carpet cleaning machines, also now known as vacuum cleaners, wouldn't be far away. In Chicago in 1860, the very first hand held carpet cleaner was designed and tested. The very first powered carpet cleaning machine was invented forty years later in the 1900's by Cecil Booth.
During the time Booth finished his vacuum cleaner invention, James Spangler came up with his own invention of the vacuum cleaner which he later sold to a cousin with the last name of Hoover. Since the inception of Spangler's invention being sold to a family member named Hoover, the Hoover vacuum cleaners have become the leading and predominate name in vacuum cleaners. Hoover vacuums are still one of the most popular brand names in vacuum cleaners today.
With the invention of the vacuum cleaner, many housewives deemed this invention a blessing because it helped them keep their homes clean in less time. When the vacuums were invented they only had the capabilities of sucking up dust and dirt from the carpets, but with today's technology, inventors have also designed the wet cleaners' we now call the carpet cleaning machines. The carpet cleaning machines steam the carpets and kills any germs in the carpets.
Since carpet is capable of covering a floor's surface in any style of home, the main purpose of the invention of the carpet was to keep people's feet warm during the winter months. Before the invention of the vacuum, the carpets had to use brooms to sweep the dirt, dust, debris from their carpets. Someone had determined with the businesses, apartment complexes, and corporations who had large areas of carpets that would need to be cleaned with something other than just a vacuum cleaner, the commercial carpet cleaner was invented.
A pumping system is how vacuum cleaners operate. The pumping system sucks air up from a hose which then will suck up the dust and dirt from any surface that is in front of the house opening on the vacuum cleaner. There is a filtering system on the inside of the vacuum cleaner that collects the dirt and dust and places it into either a vacuum cleaner bag or a canister inside the vacuum to be disposed of later in the garbage.
Today there are now seven main types of vacuum cleaners. The seven types of vacuum cleaners are back pack style, built in, hand held, wet/dry, uprights, robotic style, and canisters. All of these different styles of vacuums can be found in a different variety of sizes and styles. Not only are there the different sizes and styles of the vacuum cleaner, there are also different power sizes and various voltages with each of the different vacuums.
One of the most significant and latest inventions of the vacuums are the cyclone vacuum cleaner. The difference between the cyclone and regular vacuums is that the cyclone will collect the dust and dirt in a large cylinder rather than in a vacuum bag. The cyclone vacuum cleaner operates using several filters and a central air force. The filters filter the dust and dirt into stages so the air that is being sucked into the cylinder is cleaned and released back into the air through a central outlet.
This is how the basic concept of the original carpet cleaning machine came about and has evolved into an industry all its own in the past century and a half. You do have to admit, using a vacuum to clean your carpets sure beats using a broom to sweep them clean or even better than before taking the rugs outside and beating them on the clothes' line.

Post a CommentOMG The best thing since sliced bread. I have cream high pile carpet in my very lived in living room. I hated the steam cleaner. "messy" I tried Resolve powder carpet cleaner and fell in love. It actually looks better than the steam cleaning, and it's less expensive.
Thank you, Hugs and Kisses to the inventor. :)
this doesnt tell anything about when they were invented.
